Birthday

I am finally twenty. To celebrate the end of the era that was my very awkward teenage years, my friends and I travelled to West Auckland - Transylvania Indoor Blacklight Mini Golf to be exact. To all the locals out there, I would just like to inform you that this place is freaking insaaaane. It is crazy fun and combined with the theme of Jem and the Holograms, it made for an aesthetically amusing night.

Later on, we headed off to town and spotted Olivia and Charles, two very stylish peeps. I am in love with Charles' hat and jumper. The hat is a San Fran purchase (Goorin brothers) while the latter is a clever little H&M buy.

Oh, and please tell me Lan's monkey necklace is not the sweetest little thing you have ever seen? TOTAL WANT.

Friends with Talent

Friend, ami, amico, freund, droog. Where would we be without our friends? I simply could not live without mine for they are my chief source of inspiration and, in a way, they are all my teachers. Each and every one  of them is beautiful, generous, unique and utterly fabulous. 

Lan, pictured here, is talented beyond belief and has a restless, inquisitive mind to drive her natural craftiness. 

Although she works ridiculous hours, she still managed to find time to make herself this darling necklace. Aren't the skulls precious? They were purchased on one of Lan's trips to Hong Kong.This necklace has really got me thinking about making a few bits and bobs of my own. I apologise for the quality of the picture as I forgot to get a proper picture of it and had to make do cropping a larger, full length photo. A most decadent episode of churros con chocolate from El Faro seemed to have temporarily melted my brain.

Happy Glasses

Every now and again, I contemplate getting a new pair of nice tortoiseshell glasses with thick, erudite-looking frames. The problem is that I already have such a pair and I practically never wear them out of doors for some unknown reason. While pondering my eyewear situation, I came across the beautifully bespectacled Jannine. I am absolutely in love with her nicely worn-in boots, polka dot sweater and of course, those frames! Also, is it just me or is she a dead ringer for the stunning Taylor Tomasi Hill of Marie Claire? Jannine is in fact a delightful hair stylist training at Ryder Salon so if you are in dire need of a cut as I am, give Ryder a go and ask for Jannine Jones!

I Do Like Mondays

When I am lost in another city and looking for directions, I always endeavour to find interesting-looking, put together types. I just assume they will be more precise and cogent with their directions than those who are less well dressed. Vain? Yes. Effective? Who knows. Today, a lost tourist was doing exactly that with Zara and Maggie, giving me enough time to run over to the two and ask for some pictures. I was initially taken by Zara's super cute creepers and Hannah's rad Tom Ford sunglasses but as I got closer, I noticed additional flourishes such as Zara's adorable hair tie and styly bag and Maggie's nose ring. 

Uni Style

I don't think I am alone in my belief that university campuses house a great deal of style apathy. Fugliness and bedtime clothing are all too prevalent and it makes you wonder whether these people are either still drunk from last night's frat party or too tired from an all nighter to give a damn. So it is terribly refreshing to see students who actually give a damn. Today, whilst hurrying through AU campus, I ran into Hannah and Grace who, even in the full swing of uni and assignments, manage to look immaculate and oh-so chic. A+ ladies!

Brooklyn's Finest

If you've ever been to New York, you'll know that Brooklyn is chock full with the coolest kids in NYC. When I ran into Angel, pictured here with to-die-for hair and super kicky shades, I was hardly surprised to find out that she hailed from the aforementioned borough. Am I the only one who has this awful habit of constantly guessing where people are from? 

Goodbye Mr McQueen

It often happens that when some mediocre person of moderate fame dies, they suddenly achieve a level of adoration they could never have even dreamt of in life. Well, this is not at all the case with McQueen. McQueen was most probably London's beacon in terms of fashion and during fashion week his was the collection I most eagerly anticipated. I, like many others, was most sincerely saddened to hear the news of his death and by the fact that it came so soon and so very suddenly. However, I am very thankful the world had a chance to experience and receive McQueen's invaluable contributions to fashion. I count myself and others as being truly lucky to have seen his otherworldly creations and, of course, those shoes! Thank you Mr McQueen and goodbye.

Daddy's Shirt

Fathers are fantastic, aren't they? I mean, they never notice if there has been a bit of domestic wardrobe theft. My father saw me sporting his shirt and merely remarked, "That looks nice." You know how mothers get all in your face and actually ask you to return what is rightfully theirs? Here I am pictured wearing a steal from my dad's closet. 

I must admit this is only one of many things I have nicked from my father's wardrobe. Seriously, he is oblivious to how much smaller his collection of clothing now is. 

Also, SHOES!

Oh, and while we are on the topic of shoes, what do you think of these clogs? I feel like a right hypocrite because when I first saw the Chanel and Miu Miu ones I scoffed at how people could actually think to wear such hideous things and that most would only sport them because of the label. Well, it seems that I am now one of those people as I am considering buying a pair of clogs myself. These are some affordably priced ones by Jeffrey Campbell. So, thoughts?

The Nutcracker: A Picnic Adaptation

Is it not the most delicious thing ever to have a sinfully sweet picnic on a warm sunkissed Summer's day? Why not make that picnic themed? The Nutcracker, perhaps? Oh, and may I suggest having it at the beach for all those flip flopped people laxing out will certainly stare. And you know you love the attention.

My dear friend, Nasreen, looks so ethereal in her rendition of the sugar plum fairy. Her makeup is exquisite.

Of course, Victoria looks divine as per usual. Her pink angora cardigan is terribly sweet and can you believe she made the beautiful dress in the picture simply for this occasion? Some people are too talented for words.

Sunnies side up

Some people are just naturally cool. They reside in bubbles of coolness and convert oxygen into a carbon dioxide far superior to other mere mortals. But seriously, I was in a rather hopeless state when I caught sight of Tessa, Stacy and Hannah who were undeniably well dressed. I adore how each of the three girls has a highly unique style but they also look amazing together.
